A key advantage of Gutter Filler is that it’s so easy to install. It requires no nails, screws, pop rivets, or brackets. You can install it yourself or hire a handyman to do it for you.

Since Gutter Filler snaps easily into your gutter, the only installation tool you’ll need is a cutting tool, such as a bread knife. We also suggest that you clean one small section of gutter at a time just before you install the Gutter Filler material.

There are typically two ways gutters are attached to a house. One uses hidden hanging brackets, and the other uses nails and ferrules.

We have found that it is best to install our product over your hanging gutter supports, rather than under them. This ensures that a bracket or ferrule does not restrict flow by pushing down on the Gutter Filler material.

Gutter Filler is a wedge-shaped material with three sides. Note its proper orientation. The back side is the shortest side and is approximately three and a half inches high. The top side is five and a quarter inches wide and fills the width of the gutter from back to front. The longest side runs from the bottom to the top-front.

To install Gutter Filler over a typical one inch-wide flat hanging bracket, follow these steps to make a T-cut that will allow Gutter Filler to surround your bracket:

  1. Place a four foot section of Gutter Filler material above the gutter location where it will be installed. Use your finger to measure ½ inch of overlap with the previous piece of  Gutter Filler or end of the gutter
  2. Flip the Gutter Filler over on its top side on your roof. The bottom edge should now be facing you.
  3. Align your knife with the bracket to start your upside-down T-cut, and make a cut from the bottom of Gutter Filler down towards the roof. Stop the cut half an inch from the top side of Gutter Filler. Make sure not to cut all the way through the material.
  4. Next, you will need to complete the upside-down T-cut. Use your knife to make a half-inch cut to the right and left sides of the upside-down T… parallel with the top side of Gutter Filler.
  5. Now, flip your material right-side up and spread open the T-cut and insert your material into the gutter so that it surrounds the hanging bracket.

If you have nails and ferrules, simply cut Gutter Filler from the bottom to within half an inch of the top of the material, wherever you have a ferrule. Then spread the cut open as you push Gutter Filler into your gutter to surround the ferrule.

MosquitosTo keep mosquitoes from breeding in your gutters, do not leave any gaps between the installed pieces of Gutter Filler.

To install your material around corners, cut the adjoining end of each corner piece at a 45 degree angle.

If you are building a new home or are having new gutters installed on your existing home, you can save some money on Gutter Filler installation. While most other gutter protection systems must be installed after the gutters have been attached to your home, your gutter installer can install Gutter Filler while the gutter is still on the ground. This reduces the installation cost of your gutter protection system.

You are now ready to install Gutter Filler yourself or you can give these instructions to your handyman to assist with the installation. You can also visit our web site to print a one page Gutter Filler installation instruction sheet.
